Imagine one teacher doing data entry on 100 students.
Wouldn't it be better to have 100 students do the data entry for one teacher's approval?

Since 2003, Nvolved, Inc. worked on this collaborative tool so youth could find out about volunteer opportunities, assist in record-keeping, and obtain portfolios detailing their service.  Because schools, non-profit agencies and students all can do the data entry, it saves time.  When one user does the data entry, all users share the benefits, but only schools and agencies can give final approval to records.

How GetNvolved Works

1) Schools, agencies, faith-based organizations, governments and others in the community create volunteer opportunities for youth.

2) Entire school populations are enrolled on GetNvolved.  (Student information is seen only by those involved with the student.  Students do not see other students, even within the same school.)

3) Agencies, schools and others post opportunities for youth to see.  Full descriptions allow students to make informed choices.

4) Students select opportunities, thereby automatically notifying the agency and offering to volunteer.

5) Records and reports become available to agencies, schools and students.  These can be as simple or detailed as needed.

 Benefits to GetNvolved Users

1) Students become more active in community life through their volunteer efforts.  This increases academic performance and school attendance.

2) Students have access to their volunteer portfolio year-round.  They personalize their records with written reflection, a component of service-learning.

3) Data entry is done by students, agencies, or schools.  This spreads out the load making it easier for all.  (Only adults can APPROVE the record.  Then it cannot be changed.)

4) Schools and community organizations are brought closer together through the service of youth.  Service-learning becomes easier to implement.  Collaboration increases.

5) Stored Letters of Recommendation, private comments, and the ability to add great detail make it easy to keep continuity through the years despite staff changes.
